Overcoming Being Overweight And Looking Young Again
Hello! I am Megan and here's how my weight loss journey became a success. I was a table tennis player back in high school and was the active type of person so I didn't think that I would ever become overweight.
But the physician told me one day that I had excessive cholesterol content in my blood and that I should shed the extra weight. This came as a shock to me since I have always seen myself to be fit and in good health even with the extra weight.
I despised my appearance!
I never gained any weight even if I ate sugar rich food like ice cream and cake for dessert everyday at lunch so I expected the same after I graduated from school. I veered from my usual sports activities so the pounds kept piling up year after year. I measured 150 pounds that day that my physician informed me that I was far from being healthy.
It was distressing and I had difficulty accepting the truth until the New Year came a couple of months later…I couldn't fit into a size 12 dress and I was crying as I was looking at myself in the mirror because I despised the reflection that was looking back at me.
New Me For The New Year
I decided to be better that day - to drop 30 pounds of weight and have a new me to start fresh for the New Year. I dropped eating oily food altogether to lower my cholesterol levels but I wasn't aware of what further steps to take. I have not tried any kind of diet before and I didn't know much about preparing healthy food either.
I luckily had friends and family who offered their help and lent me a hand. My friend, Sherry, recommended healthy meals and showed me how to prepare them.
My mom gave me advice on eating only the right amount each time without depriving myself of my cravings. she told me if I wanted some cake or a candy bar for dessert then I could have some, but only a small portion.
I began to feel a bit better about myself and my health when I stopped eating junk food that contained too much calories and saturated fat. I started to lose weight then and I got used to less food intake and having healthier food in my diet.
I got a membership at the nearest gym 20 days after my decision to lose weight. I knew I had to have a more dynamic lifestyle, just like when I was back in high school. I visited the gym two times weekly and still exercise on a regular basis up to this day.

I have a flexible mentality so I was open to trying all options that would help me shed the extra weight. One friend suggested the use of a weight loss pill. I heard a few negative comments about using such but I decided to look into the details further.

I trimmed down to 118 pounds. My New Year would be great this time. I was considered healthy as my cholesterol level normalized. This can be attributed to the help of my friends and family.
